Soft house
LIVART presents Maison molle (Soft House) a group exhibition that brings together the works by ten artists who work with textile: Damien Ajavon, Sophia Borowska, Alice Dufour, Colas Eko, Béatrice Montesinos, Danica Olders, Hélène Pecqueur, Elisabeth Perrault, Olivia Pradel and Patil Tchilinguirian.
Through a flexible itinerary guided by the notion of the handmade and the materiality of the displayed works, the exhibition showcases hybridity, experimentation and the intersection of practices. The event refers to the extensible character of contemporary crafts and visual arts practices to rethink the notion of structure: in the categorization of mediums and as a formal support. In dialoguing via materials, the work set-up draws on the idea of housing and cohabitation between domestic objects, the inner world and cultural heritage.
Emerging from a prolonged development process, the exhibited pieces reveal the complexity and slowness that generally go along with the manual labour of textile work and the solitude of creative practices.
All this unfolds in a context of uncertainty brought about by the currents crises and the negotiation between private life and physical and mental life.
