A non-profit organization located in a former presbytery in the Plateau-Mont-Royal, the Livart is a multidisciplinary art center that includes a gallery, artists’ studios, an art school, an event room and a boutique.

The Livart’s activities are guided by the desire to democratize art for all audiences. A place of experimentation, dissemination and mediation, it is an innovative space where art becomes a vector of socialization and sharing and where the creativity of children and adults come together.

Through its configuration and activities, the Livart encourages proximity between artists and the public by offering a dynamic and varied program of exhibitions, evenings and workshops. The different aspects of the Livart intertwine to form an environment conducive to enriching exchanges.

The Livart occupies the former premises of the sanctuary of the Rosary and St. Jude established by the Dominican friars in 1954. This establishment is characteristic of the religious domain of its neighborhood and is located in one of the liveliest commercial sectors of Montreal.

The Livart is associated with remarkable partners who contribute to the center’s projects and to the outreach of its mission. Thanks to these collaborators, a diversification of the public, an enrichment of the programming and an improvement of the facilities are possible.

The Livart aspires that its collaborators, visitors and members of its community feel the values that animate it through its various components: programming, family, rental and boutique.

  • The Livart is an inclusive, caring and accessible place for all audiences, welcoming new ideas and experimentation with open arms.

  • The Livart develops projects and initiatives that promote encounters, exchanges, the strengthening of its community and a weaving together of its different components.

  • A place of learning, Livart stands out for its concern for sharing knowledge as well as the importance it places on transmitting its values to adults and children alike.

  • The Livart is a space of cultural ferment where all kinds of disciplines and currents intermingle thanks to activities and exhibitions that are out of the ordinary and put forward current art, but also design and architecture.

  • The Livart offers stimulating activities whose essential goal is pleasure. The freedom of creation, the lightness of the welcome and the visit of families contribute to this vast playground.
