Packaging and transporting works of art
Saturday, February 22 at 3 pm

Presented by artys transit, this training session will give you all the practical information you need on packing and transporting works of art. David Lavoie from artys transit will give you a presentation on packing methods and the materials to be used to transport your works of art safely, whether framed or unframed paintings, sculptures or any other type of artwork. Drawing on his training in museology and 20 years’ experience in museum services, he will cover topics such as which materials to use, where to obtain them and their environmental impact. Finally, the various shipping methods, their associated risks and insurance will also be on the agenda.

David Lavoie graduated from Cégep Montmorency’s Museology program in 2004. David specializes in all facets of art and museum transportation, from packing and crating to warehousing. With 18 years’ experience working his way up the ranks, from museum technician to driver, then busily in the office as team leader, and finally as operations manager, he decided to take the plunge and go into business for himself. In 2020, he joined forces to take over the management of artys transit. For over 4 years, he has run his company with dedication, putting forward a business model based on personalized, professional service. With extensive experience in the field, surrounded by an experienced team, and equipped with equipment that meets customer needs, David is ready to make artys transit a trusted brand for Quebec’s museum institutions.
