Artist in residence: Mauricio Arizona

Mauricio is an artist from Chihuahua, Mexico. He trained in scenography, specializing in lighting design. He is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Mexico and the National Institute of Fine Arts. He began his career as a production assistant, technician and designer with world-renowned designer Mauricio Ascencio, with whom he worked on over 30 projects (dance, theater, opera). He subsequently collaborated on various theatrical, dance, music and multimedia productions as a set, costume and lighting designer with national and international designers.

In 2019, he founded UNA CANASTA DE LIMONES a project of scenic experiences and spaces for toddlers, with which he created two plays for preschoolers, “Una Ciudad de montañas” and “Tipi tipi”. As an installation artist, he creates and studies free-play installations with toddlers and their families.

Mauricio occupied the Workspace and Artists’ House at Livart for a residency with Le Cube, an international center for research and creation in theater for children and young people.
