Call for Projects for Idartes (Bogotá, Colombia)

A residency project made possible by the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the District Institute of the Arts – Idartes
CasaBlanca Artistic Residencies – Located in Casa Fernández
📍 Historic center of Bogotá, La Candelaria
This residency aims to strengthen internationalization and artistic mobility by fostering exchanges between Montréal and Bogotá, as well as supporting research-creation in contemporary visual arts. It will support one Canadian artist in carrying out a research-creation project, while encouraging artistic experimentation, international circulation of artworks, intercultural dialogue, and engagement with the local territory and cultural context of Bogotá.
Project Requirements
The project must:
- Be grounded in a research-creation approach in contemporary visual arts
- Be feasible within a heritage studio (no modifications to walls, floors, or structures)
- Be adaptable to a space of 16 to 35 m²
- Include a public presentation or sharing component (Open Studios, talk, conference, workshop, etc.)
- Be realizable within a light technical framework (the space is not an industrial workshop)
Artistic Orientation
- Dialogue between the social contexts of Bogotá and Montréal
- Development of a reflection informed by displacement and intercultural encounters
- Immersion in La Candelaria
- Connection with the Colombian art scene
Selection Criteria
- Relevance of the project to the cultural context
- Ability to work autonomously and independently, including international travel
- Interest in public engagement and mediation
Candidate Profile
- Be a Canadian professional artist (citizen or permanent resident of Canada)
- Be a resident of Montréal
- Be available for a two (2) consecutive month residency in Bogotá
- Have functional proficiency in Spanish
