Vallée Duhamel is a duo of Montreal artists whose work is centered on experimentation and play. They specialize in a Lo-fi aesthetic and often render complex handmade visuals and environments. Their work is mainly a graphic research that uses both animation, post-production, live-action video and effects dating from the beginning of cinema. Their installations mimic this same process through elements in space organized to capture the culmination of a movement stopped in time. Their work has been presented in several exhibitions and festivals locally and internationally. Their installation “Smash Pong” (2013) was exhibited at the Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, and their video and interactive installation “Dance Dance” (2010) was shown at It’s Nice That in England and the Clark Centre in Montreal. Their films have been presented in several festivals around the world. Their latest short film, “Les Inconnus” (2017), received Vimeo Staff Pick awards, was a finalist at the 37th Black Maria Film Festival, VOTD winner, official selection at the Atlanta Film Festival, official selection at the Cinequest Film Festival and VR, Audience Choice at South by Southwest, official selection at the Nashville Film Festival, and honorable mention at the 2018 USA film Festival.
