“Dito sa San Jacinto, Doon sa Santo Tomas” is a series of cyanotype prints from 35mm photos that the artist’s mother took between late 1980 and early 2000. These are moments of the artist’s youth at different stages of her youth where she grew up – San Jancito and Santo Tomas. Memories a bit fuzzy, Dela Peña attempts to bring her moments to life by offering a different narrative and perception than that of her mother (who took the photos) with cyanotype printing. The white spaces of the images are colored with a wooden pencil, which transforms the banality of the image into a contemporary snapshot animated by color.
